UEFA HooliganismEveryone knows by know how soccer fans are very addicted and passionate to the sport. Too passionate as it has rubbed of and hurt innocent lives. Such was the picture at the experience of Manchester United fans after their favorite team�s match against Roma at the Olympic Stadium. Such was the horror of most fans who suffered a wild fan base that made their stay at the nation�s capital a forgettable one.

However, as it is now the turn of the United Manchester team to host, no other than Sir Alex Fergusson assured the safety of over 4,000 fans that will be on hand to watch the match. Although still upset over what transpired, Sir Fergusson assured the Roma fans safety in the next match which proves to be another exciting one. Hopefully, the United Manchester fans will support Sir Fergusson on his promise to spare innocent fans from getting caught in between the crossfire.

Bale taking it One Day at a Time

Despite rumors of an impending big deal that would bring him to United or Tottenham, Southampton�s Gareth Bale is simply focusing on the task at hand and this is doing the thing he loves the most, playing football.

With an estimated value of �10 million offers, Bale has remained unfazed and chose to concentrate on continuously playing his love for the sport at St. Mary�s. There is no pressure whatsoever from this 17 year old sensation, who is busy preparing for Wales� Euro 2008 qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and San Marino.

Taking the right approach, nothing would be definite and all are speculations for now taking the load of the pressure from such transactions if they should push through. With this kind of attitude, it is not surprising why this 17 year old star is a prized player that is dangling much money from clubs who wish to have him under their wing.

Sir Alex Optimistic of United�s Chances

Despite a badly depleted lineup, Sir Alex Ferguson is confident that his team can make it beyond the quarterfinals. United reached the quarterfinals by getting past Lille 2-0. This will be the first time that the team have reached the quarterfinals in four years and optimism is written all over the face of the United Reds boss.

Add to this that the team wasn�t yet even in top form against Lille, and Ferguson knows all to well that with a fit team, they can make it all the way to the final. Thriving on their defensive solidarity, United can actually achieve the feat against other teams such as AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia and Roma.

The team has the talent to pull it off as can be seen and emphasized by most quarters. Focus and getting to top form will be the key towards attaining the goal and with Sir Alex, such a possibility can become reality.

Larsson Headed Back Home

Despite the talks that were held between Henrik Larsson and Sir Alex Fergusson regarding his continued tenure with the team, Larsson has made up his mind to go back home to Sweden and honor his signed contract with his hometown last year. Despite his large contribution in helping the United Manchester club, the decision has been set and accepted by Sir Fergusson.

Larsson has made a valuable contribution and headway for the team. The timing couldn�t have been worse since the team is still saddled with injuries to its chief star players such as Ole Gunnar and Louis Saha. There were speculations that he would be convinced to stay longer, at least for the meantime that most of the key players are recuperating from injuries, but the decision needs to be done on Larsson�s part.

Despite his departure, Larsson is convinced that the team can still make it through the quarterfinals where he was a key figure in reaching this stage. With the experience that United has, it will not be surprising if they actually achieve the goal.

SAF Plays Down Title Talk

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists the title race is far from over despite his side’s last-gasp victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

The win left United nine points ahead of rivals Chelsea with nine games left.

But Ferguson said: “There is a big difference but I don’t think anything is impossible in modern-day football.”

The Scot added: “Liverpool will feel unlucky and they deserve to. We had a lot of narrow escapes and they upset our rhythm. It was a massive victory.”

John O’Shea struck the winner against the run of play for 10-man United in injury time and Ferguson said: “If you are looking for the luck of champions, then we have certainly had that in the last two matches.

“We broke away late on against Fulham and scored and now we’ve done it here. We’ve had that bit of luck in the last two weeks but you need luck if you are to win titles.”

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez agreed that the better side had lost, saying: “I would have trouble explaining how we lost that in Spanish; in English I find it almost impossible.

“We dominated the game, were in control and had plenty of attacks. Sometimes football is all about luck. You must be careful against a team as good as United.”

And the Spaniard tipped United to go on to win the title, saying: “United are really close to the title now. Chelsea are a good team, but they cannot make mistakes now because United will continue to win.

“As for us, we are down now, but we will train hard and be ready for our Champions League tie against Barcelona on Tuesday.”
