Just when everyone was ignoring the penalizations being given by the NBA on players lambasting the referees, the UEFA Champions League now has an issue of its own featuring Sir Alex Fergusson on some questionable officiating. Although nothing is certain, it is a given that Sir Alex Fergusson was indeed disappointed with the officiating and his verbal attacks against German referee Fandel. United eventually lost the match in Rome.
Sir Fergusson issued a statement wherein United was at a loss 12 to 10, obviously referring to the referees of the difference. Included in the possible disciplinary actions is that of defender Rio Ferdinand who branded the referee as laughable, arrogant and ignorant.
While the UEFA committee is still studying and gathering evidence and statements surrounding this issue, there will be penalties that will be handed in the coming days. Again, if Sir Fergusson were to speak, they are at a disadvantage. But then again, that is a different battle off the field.
