On Tuesday, Roma comes to OT again and we’ll have another chance to get in our rhythm, hopefully scoring more goals this time. Last season we’ve beaten Roma 7-1 in the replay of the UCL quarter finals, but chances that we’ll repeat this royal beating are rather slim. Not because we don’t have the talent to so, but more because those monster scores are rather exceptional and repeating that performance would be a unique performance.
After VDS’s toe injury, SAF faces other defensive problems, with both Vidic and Brown having missed today’s training session. Both defenders received a knock and Fergie mentioned Pique would be the obvious replacement for Vidic or Brown.
Last weekend, our Boss hinted at youngsters being allowed to leave OT and pick up match rhythm. The poor performance of our talented junior squad against Coventry resulted in Ferguson stating that Pique and Danny Simpson could be useful for the first squad. What does this mean for Dong, Evans, Eagles (who played several times already this season) and Lee Martin?
… I think we’ll have to review the situation with one or two of them going on loan, because they do need football.
With Neville and Hargreaves coming back we’ve got a good strong squad. There’ll have to be some that we have to keep.
Pique was excellent on Wednesday. He was our best player along with Anderson. We’ll probably keep Simpson as he can play both full-back positions.
But I’m maybe looking at the rest going on loan as they need to play football.
Good news for tomorrow is that Hargo is expected to return in the squad, even though SAF mentioned he’d preferred Owen to have picked up some more fitness rhythm.
Both Rio and Ronnie have warned our opponents after Saturday’s game, hinting MU have much more space for improvement and even 1-0 scores aren’t the drama, as long as we win. If it weren’t for Fergie’s hilarious quote about Arsenal (see later on), Rio would have scored the quote of the week
I’d like to think someone would get a hammering but if we win every game to the end of the season 1-0 then I’d be a happy man.
It is obvious that the confidence at OT is growing after six consecutive clean sheets and victories in a row, even though VDS will be out tomorrow. Rom might be the opponent we want right at the moment, especially for our offensive department. Contrarily to what we’ve seen so far, we don’t have to expect another 6 men defense tomorrow and both Ronnie and Tevez will have more opportunity to break open the game with a splicing pass. Also the typical Italian style, playing short on the wingers might suit our lads rather well and hopefully it will be a delight to see us play our fast and one touch game, with Tevez regularly dropping back some yards to collect the ball and immediately pass on to Ronaldo, Rooney or even lay off for a rocket from Giggs or Scholes.
Amid all the news and quotes, Vidic is rumoured to have earned himself another 4 year deal (£50k/week) after his sublime performances for ManU and the Boss, Gill and Giggs are confident the Welshman’s contract soon will be extended for another year. For life maybe?
As for Fergie’s hilarious Arsenal quote…
Their form has been very good and they have produced some very good performances. It’s going to make it an interesting league.
Yes, they have played some nice games… but they are Arsenal and you don’t win anything with kids. Lets wait until the results don’t come in two games in a row and Europe gets hard. We’ll see then who will take over the leading role and bring back confidence to those youngsters.
And to round this entry off, here’s a one more reason Why ManU The Best is (video 8:20).
